Indian-American Seema Verma resigns as CMS Administrator in America

Seema Verma, one of the highest ranking Indian officials in the Trump administration, has resigned from the top post of healthcare in the country. The 50-year-old Verma stepped down as administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) before Joe Biden was sworn in as the next president of the US. He submitted his resignation to President Donald Trump on Thursday.

Explain that Verma is the longest serving administrator in the history of CMS. Verma was born in America. But his parents hail from Punjab, who later settled in the US. Her husband is also a doctor and is of Indian origin. Verma was in this position for the last four years. She has been one of Trump’s close confidants on health-related issues.

He was appointed by Trump as one of the key members of the White House Corona Virus Task Force in May last year. The task force was formed by US President Donald Trump to combat the deadly disease. Varma tweeted on Friday, ‘As the tenure of the Trump administration is coming to an end, I have submitted my official resignation and am preparing to hand over the assignment to the next administrator next week.’

Highlighting CMS’s achievements during the last four years, she said, “It is an honor to serve the American people by working with the talented and dedicated CMS staff for nearly four years, for which I will be forever grateful.” His resignation will take effect on January 20, the day Biden takes over as America’s 46th president.
